We currently have several openings from entry to senior level positions in Analytical Development, Formulation Development and Solid Characterization groups at Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research in China, Shanghai. 

Job description:
The positions will be responsible for conducting the developability assessment on late stage discovery compounds and participate in a cross-functional team to select molecules that can be successfully developed. Using conventional and high throughput technologies to provide analytical and formulation data while utilizing very small amounts of drug substance. Assist in building “state of the art laboratories” that will house high throughput technologies to maximize efficiency and quality of the data. Building a strong network with drug discovery team,  Toxicology, and DMPK groups as well as early clinical development among several global sites.  Support DS salt and polymorph selection, analytical methods and formulations from early in vivo pharmacology evaluation, GLP toxicological test to  FIH or POC studies.  Write compound developability assessment reports. Manage a group of approximately 2-5 scientific staff, from BS to Ph.D. levels.

Qualifications:
Expertise in supporting preclinical and clinical drug development with good project managment experiences.  Strong skills in physico-chemical characterization,salt selection and polymorph screening,  preformulation/formulation development, analytical method development and biopharmaceutics depending on the positions applied.  Hands-on experience in analytical instrumentation including HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, XRPD, DVS, DSC and other spectroscopic methodologies, etc.  Good communication skills in both English and Chinese as a good team player.  Good knowledge in regulatory requirements for CTA CMC submission.  A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry or Pharmaceutics with  2-10 years industry experience in early drug development.
